Do non-chexsystems banks and credit unions really exist? Yes they do. It is said that over 80% of financial institutions use chexsystems.

Chexsystems is…..A check verification service and consumer credit reporting agency like Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Chexsystems provides data related to how a consumer has handled deposit accounts at banking institutions. “Chexsystems” is a registered service mark of eFunds Corporation headquartered in Delaware and was previously registered to “Chexsystems Inc.

Once on chexsystems, your name will remain on file for 5 years unless you file a dispute and there is no guarantee to be removed even with dispute. At the banking forum I also list step by step instructions on ” How to Remove Your Name From Chexsystems ” But remember this is not 100%. Because chexsystems is considered a CRA they are subject to the same rules/regulations as set forth by the FCRA. The idea is to catch them in a violation.

Paying the bank will NOT remove your name from chexsystems. Many people believe and are even told it will but it will NOT. The reporting bank is the ONLY one that can have chexsystems remove your name and 9 times out of 10 the banks will NOT. If you are going to pay for removal make sure you get it in writing.

Some banks do not even really have an understanding of how chexsystems actually works. Some will tell you that once you are paid, your name is removed ( because they believe that it is automatic ) IT IS NOT ! THEY MUST REQUEST YOUR NAME IS REMOVED !
